Podcasting is a term used to describe a collection of technologies for automatically distributing audio programs over the Internet using a publisher/subscriber model.

A podcaster makes an audio file -- typically an MP3 file -- available online for downloading via an automatic "feed."

You can then hear the file whenever you want from your Tablet PC, smart phone, or a portable media player.

It's a convenient way to obtain updates by "experts" to developments of interest to you, but that were not of top priority at the moment they originally occurred

Commuters who are life long learners find podcasts useful tools. Teachers assign them as homework and for supplementary learning of formal classroom lessons.
